Favorite Places To Write In Marin County

There are a lot of reasons to love living in Marin County,

just north of San Francisco

The climate is mild with a high dose of sunshine

The Bay Area just oozes creativity and

has an established writing community including

Isabelle Allende, Amy Tan, Dave Eggers,

Karen Joy Fowler, Annie Barrows, and Andy Weir

Mill Valley Library

It seems I meet writers all the time

of blogs, articles, books and freelancers

While it is good to hole up in the house to do a bit of writing,

it also is great to get out of those bunny slippers and mingle among others

Here is my list of Best Places To Write In Marin County…

BOOK PASSAGE BOOKSTORE

A favorite local hangout,

this bookstore hosts countless author talks, workshops, and conferences

The cafe offers free internet, a proper coffee, and yummy sandwiches

Delightfully, you can sit inside or outside

as you type out your magnum opus

Or bring home a book that piques your curiosity

Sausalito Library, Marin County, CA

SAUSALITO PUBLIC LIBRARY

Although you cannot view the water from these amazing windows,

the natural light is wonderful, and the tables for writing are numerous

Best of all, walk along the harbor

or explore this picturesque seaside town during your writing break

Mill Valley Library, Marin County, CA

 MILL VALLEY PUBLIC LIBRARY

This library has a floor-to-ceiling window that beautifully frames a grove of redwoods

With a lot of seating and even a fireplace,

this library will get your writing mojo flowing in this cozy spot

A short distance away,

the main street is filled with adorable shops and restaurants

The Hivery, Mill Valley, CA

 THE HIVERY

The brainchild of Grace Kraaijvanger,

The Hivery is a beautiful, vibrant space offering

desk space, conference rooms, workshops, and member lunches

This inspiring Mill Valley space is hopping with rich opportunities

for networking and collaborating with other brilliant, creative women

The sense of community reminds me of a place I visited in Oxford, England

and one I had yearned for…

The Eagle And Child, Oxford, UK

From 1939 – 1962

a group of writers met weekly to talk, drink, and share their latest projects at this pub

They named their casual literary circle ‘The Inklings’

with C.S. Lewis and J. R. R. Tolkien in regular attendance

Clearly it enjoyed a big dose of ‘awesome sauce’

Oh, to have been a fly on the wall!
